“The trouble with expectations”

Genesis 26:34-35

Isaac has just experienced a significant victory. This victory was not about the degree of power he was able to exercise to defeat, dominate and win. Rather it was about losing. When everything within his being shouted out to get even he humbly submitted to God within and thus experienced a great victory. But, as is often the case, still in the glow of the victory comes the bad news bringing disappointment and heartache. Life is truly mixed as we are all so much aware. Let’s look at this story of sudden disappointment to see what we can learn about this most common human experience.
