Why boys stay as boys

Genesis 27:5-13

Family dynamics, we all have our stories, do we not? In this story today, Rebekah steps in. We have to believe her intentions are good, at least from her perspective. She is attempting to merely compensate for her husband’s apparent “out of touchness” regarding who should get the blessing from dad. And so we see her listening, strategizing, and plotting out a marvelous plan of deception in order to simply “help things along a bit.” I’m grinning as I write this because I too have often “stepped in to help God along a bit.” Maybe you have too. Let’s take a look, not as jury but rather as fellow participants, desperately in need of grace, as we journey along in this thing we call life.
