Genesis 31:36-42, “One step forward, two steps back”
We love to think of transformation as a turning with immediate and lasting change. Maybe this is true for some, I’m not sure. However for the rest of us, “being conformed into the image of Christ” takes quite some time. Following Jacob’s admission of fear, we would love to read how he offered grace and extended forgiveness to his father in-law. But this is clearly not the case. Transformation runs deep. It’s a process that occurs from the inside out. And sometimes it just takes awhile for that new life to surface.
