Genesis 35:22 “What Growth Looks Like, part 1”

 

We are taken back by Jacob’s lack of response to Reuben’s actions. We have looked at why we feel left hanging. The silence of the text begs the question, “what is going on inside Jacob?” One thing is certain; the latter Jacob is different than the earlier Jacob. We now have an opportunity to look back through our study to make some observations and hopefully derive insight regarding growth in this man’s life. We naturally want to believe that Jacob’s journey is taking him somewhere, and that “somewhere” to be labeled as growth. I have reviewed and identified thirty-one actions performed by Jacob as the story is told about this man’s life. In the next few weeks we will explore these actions; we will group and correlate in order to gain understanding how Jacob grew as a person with a view towards gaining some understanding of ourselves.
