Genesis 48-49 Part 2

Much of our daily interaction is transactional in nature. The giving and receiving of information, the exchange of dollars for services or goods are just two examples of this common reality. However, what we see here in Jacob’s blessing is transformational. It is transformational in the sense that something real and lasting is being imparted, far more than mere kind words. Jacob is bringing to this moment an entire life that actually, in his own words, pre-dates his own existence. He sees himself as part of a history that will live on through these boys.
