Today we begin our look at the account where Jesus enters the Temple and drives out the money changers. The story is found in all four of the Gospels but only in John is the story placed here at the beginning. Some have concluded that Jesus must have performed this act two times, once early in His ministry and the other during His last visit to Jerusalem.

Regardless, we must ask, “Why did John place this story here?” This will be our guiding question as we examine this text.
