Today we begin a new section of John’s Gospel extending through Chapter 10. Jesus has offered what He has called “Eternal Life.” This offer is being met by a mixed response the most resistive demonstrated by the established religious authority. We are asking, Why?

Why is it that the very people who find their roots in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, followers of the writings of Moses, are so resistive to the message and the man Jesus?

We as Christ followers know this to be true. We have read the story for years. However, the question remains, Why? What is it about human nature that causes people like us to resist?
