Mike Haddorff
Executive Director, teaching leader
Mike grew up in Northern Colorado. He is a small business owner, adventure cyclist and avid flyfisher. He is founder of Christ In The Rockies. Mike has a passion for learning and applying scripture into life’s many celebrations and challenges. For decades he has led men’s Bible studies focused on navigating careers, relationships, and personal faith journeys. He has been married to Sandra for 46 years and together, they have raised four children.
Rob Strouse,
Board Member, teaching leader
Rob grew up in Canton, Ohio. He graduated from Grove City College in Pennsylvania, and Ashland Theological Seminary (M. Div.) in the 1970s. He has been married for 48 years to his lovely wife Shirley and they raised two sons. They have lived in Colorado since 1978 where Rob earned distinct experience in business, education, coaching, and pastoral work. He has been a passionate Christ follower for over 50 years. Currently, Rob is involved in substitute teaching and supporting the ministry of Christ in the Rockies. He remains committed to his long-term love for people, running, and the Word of God.
Brad Fightmaster
past board member, climbing guide, and safety specialist
Brad is a forth generation Coloradoan and enjoys numerous outdoor activities both winter and summer. He has been married for 30 years and is a father of four grown children. Upon receiving his bachelors degree in biology from CSU Brad continued on in Fort Collins to become a firefighter for Poudre Fire Authority in 1992 and is still doing that today. His passion in ministry is with family and marriage.
Tim Strickland
Executive Director, Christ in the Smokies, Board Member
Tim was born and raised in the Southeast and currently lives in Alpharetta, a suburb north of Atlanta. For Tim, being outside and experiencing nature is where he has connected best with God, and so he’s developed a deep affection for boating, skiing, hiking and other outdoor sports. Tim is happiest when spending time with family and friends, and serving in family, young men and men’s ministry environments. Opportunities to plug into what God is doing locally and globally have led Tim to participate in and lead family mission trips, as well as serve in the local church’s middle school ministry and coach football and wrestling. He enjoys helping young men fulfill their potential on and off the field. Tim is a small business owner in the utility and communications industries and founder of Christ in the Smokies. He and his wife, Toni, married in 1991. They had a son, Taylor, who went to be with the Lord in 2016 at the age of 23.
Jim Zalenski,
Executive Director, Christ in the Ozark, Board Member
Jim grew up in Pennsylvania where he developed his passion for spending time outdoors. Currently residing in Northwest Arkansas, Jim is the Camp Director for Christ in the Ozarks, part of Rugged Faith Ministries. Ever since attending Promise Keepers in the late 90s, Jim has always had a calling to serve in Men’s Ministry in a variety of ways. His previous experience serving on other non-profit boards has reinforced to him the importance of fiscal responsibility, equipping leaders, and staying focused on the mission. Jim has been married to his wife Barbara for 37 years and has two daughters and three grandchildren. Jim considers it an honor to serve on this Board with like-minded Brothers and Sisters who are sold out on serving our Lord.
Dave Brown
past board member, teacher, and administrivialist
Dave has lived in the Fort Collins area since 1960 and graduated from the CSU College of Business. He and Betty, his bride of over 45 years, have one son, Ryan; one daughter, Wendy; and five grandchildren. Retired from an eclectic list of business pursuits, he also loves a deep study of both the Hebrew and the Greek etymologies of Scripture. Dave is both thrilled and humbled to serve with the CITR crew. He assists with a number of CITR’s support and administrative functions, and is also very blessed to sometimes assist Mike in a teaching role.
Tim FitzGerald
board member
Tim has thirty years of executive sales and sales management experience in the enterprise software market with his own start-up, and pre-IPO and post-IPO companies. He is currently with ServiceMax as a Global Account Manager. Tim and his wife Jean of 25 years live in Atlanta and they have two children; Kaitlin who attends Georgia State University and Ryan who attends University of Georgia. Tim and Jean have been members of North Point Community Church for 12 years. In addition to CITR, Tim is active with High Tech Ministries in Atlanta and Integrated Community Ministries in Appalachian Kentucky.
Bob Powell
past board member
Bob’s career was primarily in the insurance industry, holding several management and ownership positions. After a 40 year career in insurance, he has remained active with organizations providing training and consulting to their leadership teams through the Character Training Institute (Character First) and its successor firm, Strata Leadership, LLC, with a focus on strengthening their workplace cultures of character.
Throughout his career he has served in leadership positions with a number of the Boards of Directors for a variety of non-profit organizations. He is an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Collins.
Bob has been married to his wife, Sandy, for 55 years. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.
Darrell Schoenig
past board member, cycling leader, and spud cannon designer
An entrepreneur since his youth, Darrell has successfully launched six companies, including Ultimate Support Systems, Inc., designing and manufacturing stands for the music and bicycle industries. He recently designed a portable dental system for delivering dental care to underserved peoples living in remote villages and which serves as a door opener for Christian ministries worldwide. He holds a B.S. in Physical Science from Colorado State University. He has been married to Susan for over 25 years and they have three children. Darrell loves adventure sports, and has served on the board of Christ In The Rockies since its inception until 2016.
Jon Lachelt
past board member and climbing leader
Jon has been rock climbing since graduating from college in 1985, and was thrilled to be invited to share his passion in the ministry of CITR. He especially loves introducing new climbers to the sport and is in the process of opening a new indoor climbing facility. He has been married to his wife Karen for over 25 years and is a father to four girls (yes, part of his motivation for participating in CITR is to get his testosterone fix).
