You may not think this is news worthy but it has been quite the ride around here the last few days. I grew up in Fort Collins. I don’t ever remember an occasion when a bridge was closed due to flooding. On Friday every bridge in our city was closed down. (approximately 6). It virtually cut the city in half bringing us all to a standstill. With a break in the weather I got out on bike in the afternoon to check out the Poudre River. (see photo).
I was not the only one to do so. It was like a big party happening near the College Avenue bridge. Of course the bridge was shut down, police cars, TV vans and hundreds of people off work and out for their grand adventure.
Yes, a grand adventure and a day off work for many. However we would be remiss not mention the 1750 people evacuated from their homes, millions of dollars in damage to roads and property and four confirmed dead. This all has occurred since the deluge began on Wednesday. It’s still raining. Please remember those who are suffering.
