There are three major aspects in regard to this mysterious midnight encounter. Struggle is the first and most obvious. But why struggle? Jacob is terrified, exhausted and alone. If God is to visit him at this critical juncture, why not a softer approach like words of comfort and hope? It is because something deep runs in Jacob and every man. And this something must be addressed if he is to move on in his journey. Today we will take a look back to the beginning in order to gain some understanding of what has happened. In doing so we will then be able to better understand the why of what is happening within in our story.
