Today we wrap up our examination of Jacob’s actions. He has lived a full and mixed life punctuated by twists, hard turns, ups and downs. It is my guess that Jacob’s life turned out far different from how he expected his life to be. Sound familiar?
Here, at the close of his life we see his primary action as extending blessing. Through his journey, Jacob has acquired the power and authority to bless. It is at this point he imparts what he has received thus effecting the generations to come.
I hear the words of Jesus as He stated at a much later time, “Unless a grain of wheat fall into the ground.” You know the rest of it. Yes indeed you do. As you and I allow ourselves to die a resurrection will occur and resurrection will always yield “much fruit.” You can count on it!
