Genesis 30:25-43 “The Core Challenge”

Jacob wants to go. Laban needs him to stay. Herein is the set up for a very interesting story. The two are cuffed in a relationship less than ideal, at least from Jacobs’s perspective. His desire to launch out to make his own mark in the world sets up the tension that I am calling “Resistance.” We all know this tension. Each of us experiences it in some way every time an opposing idea comes our way. It may visit us as a tightening in the neck or a rumbling in the gut or more intense a sense I may explode. What is this and why is this? Let’s take a look.
